Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has today been included in the Premier League’s inaugural Hall of Fame.

The ex-striker and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry as the first two inductees, in a decision that nobody can question.

Shearer hit 260 goals for the Magpies and Blackburn Rovers in the competition during his playing days, a tally that will be very difficult for anyone to beat.

Reacting to his inclusion, Shearer said (via BBC Sport): “When you look at some of the unbelievable players to have graced the Premier League – week in, week out, year in, year out – I feel very honoured to join the Hall of Fame.”

Many people have extended their congratulations to the 50-year-old, who is without doubt one of the finest players to ever grace the competition and certainly the greatest goalscorer.

Among the people responding was ex-Toon striker Salomon Rondon, who tweeted: “I’ll always be proud to have worn @alanshearer’s shirt for a season. Congratulations on your place in the Premier League Hall of Fame.”

Shearer responded saying: “Thank you my friend. Hope you’re well.”

Rondon’s response struck a chord with lots of Toon fans.
