Newcastle fans respond as Isaac Hayden posts on Twitter

Newcastle United fans have been replying to Isaac Hayden on Twitter, with the player acknowledging his 150th appearance for the club.

The Magpies were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace at St. James’ Park, in what was a hugely disappointing result given their great start in the game.

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey struck after just two minutes and it looked as though Newcastle had taken real confidence from the weekend victory over Everton.

But Jairo Riedewald equalised with a vicious drive from the edge of the box, and Gary Cahill added a second just minutes later to stun the hosts.

Newcastle were unable to find an equaliser of their own, and it’s a case of normal service resumed under Steve Bruce.

It was certainly not how Hayden wanted the evening to go on what was a special occasion for him.

He wrote on Twitter: “Gutted to not get anything from tonight’s game, game was there for us but it just wasn’t out night. The attacking intent and plan was there.

“Happy to make my 150th appearance for this great club, hopefully many more to come.”

Hayden himself was actually quite solid in the game and was one of a few players who could hold their head high afterwards.

That is something that’s been fairly typical since he’s been at the club, with £22,000-a-week star with Hayden (Spotrac) very much a favourite amongst fans.

He is someone that will always give his best, and the defensive work he does in the midfield is often very good.
