According to the Daily Mail, the new Newcastle owners could make a huge change to St James’ Park in the future.
They report that PIF are considering selling the naming rights to the stadium in an attempt to boost the club’s spending power.
However, any decision will need consent from supporters. Fans will be asked if they are in favour of a potential name change, although the owners reportedly do intend to keep ‘St James’ Park’ involved in the new name.

This is a rumour that has caused a lot of debate among Toon fans. There are a lot of people in favour, while there are others who are massively against it.
Some Toon fans want St James’ Park to stay the same
Other fans are open to a change to the stadium’s name
What do Geordie Boot Boys think?
In all honesty, I’m not sure which side of the fence to sit on. It’s easy to see both sides of the coin.
When Mike Ashley did the same thing in 2011 and changed it to Sports Direct Arena, it was met with fury from Toon fans.
But supporters think this is different, as the money will actually go back into the club and benefit the team.

Alternatively, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea haven’t done this. Old Trafford is Old Trafford. Anfield is Anfield. Stamford Bridge is Stamford Bridge.
The main thing is that fans are consulted on this matter. Our opinion matters, and it’s good to see that we will be asked by the new owners. Communication is key.
That’s a big change to Ashley, who just thrust his decision upon us a decade ago.
I’m not massively for it, but if it’s necessary to take the club forward then needs must.
