It seemed certain that Isaac Hayden would leave Newcastle this summer.
The midfielder has been making noises about a move away from St James’ Park for almost a year now because of family reasons. He wants to be further down south to be with his partner and child, which is completely understandable.
And even after Hayden had the best spell of his career, fans were more than willing to see him get his wish.

But that might not be the case. According to Telegraph writer Luke Edwards, the former Arsenal man might be staying put.
Now this would be an excellent piece of news. After injuries forced him back into the team last season, Hayden got his head down and put in some of the best performances of his life.
Alongside Sean Longstaff, Hayden looked like a real Premier League midfielder. His professionalism was applauded by everyone, as he could easily have downed tools and said he wasn’t going to play, or not given 100%. But instead, Hayden got on with his job and became a key player for Rafa Benitez.

And if Luke Edwards is right, he could be a key player for Steve Bruce too. With the pace that Newcastle complete transfers, it will be a huge boost for the new manager that he might not have to find a replacement.
Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed by the club or the player. But fans are excited about the possibility of seeing Hayden play for the Magpies once again this season.
