Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sky Sports News’ north-east reporter Keith Downie revealed on the Pitch to Post Review that Mike Ashley is leaving ‘no stone unturned’ in his attempts to ensure the aborted takeover goes through.
Early last month, the Premier League rejected a takeover bid from PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) following its Owners and Directors test.
The Guardian reported that the Magpies would seek legal advice after this decision, and Downie’s update reinforces the fact that Ashley isn’t taking the Premier League’s verdict lightly.
As quoted by Sky Sports, Downie said: ‘It sounds as though Ashley will leave no stone unturned, and will spend what is required to go up against the Premier League to see if he can get this aborted takeover.’
This news has come as music to the St James’ Park faithful’s ears judging by their reactions on Twitter, as it seems the majority of the fanbase wants this deal to go through.
Should this news be true, then hopefully it’ll help the Toon Army get their minds off our last game, which was a 4-1 humiliation at the hands of Manchester United.
Despite the Premier League’s decision, this saga definitely doesn’t feel like it’s going to go away anytime soon.
Let’s see how the Newcastle fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
