Like every season, there has been a ‘leak’ of the Premier League opening day fixtures. If it’s true, then we’ll be taking on Everton in a traditional 3pm kick off at Goodison Park. That’s a massive if though.
Last season, the leaked opening day fixtures had us facing newly promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage. That would have been a decent start to the season, but instead we had to entertain Tottenham at St James’ Park in a game we ultimately lost 2-1.

These fixtures ‘leaks’ always seem to happen, and they always seem to be a load of rubbish.
Some fans have discussed the possibility of playing Everton on the opening day, while others have shut down the ‘leak’ completely, with the apparent televised games making it clearly fake.
In the past two seasons, we’ve played Tottenham at home and lost both times. The last time we won on the opening weekend was in 2012, when we beat Tottenham (shock) 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Hatem Ben Arfa and Demba Ba.
