Jetro Willems clearly has many Newcastle United fans on strings.
The former St. James’ Park loanee took to Twitter last night to write something rather cheeky.
The Dutchman said: “Someone know the rules if I want to travel from Amsterdam to Newcastle? Just for one night.”
That set plenty of tongues wagging within the Newcastle faithful, with many believing it to be a sign he wants to return.
After all, the Willems-Newcastle links have been alive and well pretty much since he returned to Eintracht Frankfurt after seeing his loan with the Magpies cut short due to a serious knee injury.
It’s definitely something many would like to see, with Willems having really impressed during his short stint with the club.
Willems’ tweet had suggested that he was perhaps wanting to return to the city for negotiations or something.
The left-back becomes a free agent this summer and it looks like he will be departing Eintracht.
But when a fan told Willems to ‘stop teasing us’, he said: “Sorry mate not my intention but everything I say or do they relate it to NUFC.
“Just wanted to know cause I still have my stuff there.”
To a lot Magpies fans, this response just made them long for Willems to return as a permanent Newcastle player even more:
