Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman starred as Swansea City took a 1-0 lead from their Championship semi-final first-leg against Barnsley.
Andre Ayew scored the game’s only goal in the first half and Steve Cooper’s men had the 24-year-old to thank in the second half.
He made some brilliant saves in the second half with a double save just after half-time a particular highlight.
Woodman has been in fine form during the last two seasons he’s spent at the Liberty Stadium. During 2020/21 he’s kept 21 clean sheets during 49 appearances.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer. Newcastle do have Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow but it’s clear Woodman has talent.
The former England youth international has two years left on his contract at St James’ Park and a chance could be in the offing.
Darlow has been linked with a move away from the club before and perhaps Newcastle might consider cashing in.
Woodman’s form over the two seasons with the Swans has been impressive and it seems as though supporters would welcome him around the first-team next season.
After a superb showing at Oakwell this evening, we looked at what fans were saying about the Newcastle-owned star.
