Local lad Paul Dummett just couldn’t help himself.

As you may have heard, there is a new documentary series on Netflix called “Sunderland ‘Til I die”. The series follows the Black Cats’ demise as they slipped down the footballing ladder, from the Championship to League One.

It has been very well received, focusing on the fans’ heartache as you see things go from bad to worse for Sunderland.

While some have been emotionally invested in the series, Dummett had a different reaction.

The Magpies full-back was snapped having a laugh in training, so Dummett came up with a witty caption to accompany the picture of himself.

Unsurprisingly, this did not go down well with the Sunderland faithful. However, Newcastle fans found it hilarious.

Newcastle fans can’t help but laugh at Dummett’s post

Banter between the two clubs is limited now due to the pair not facing each other in league action. Any chance either side gets to have a pop at the other is jumped on.

This will increase even more in January when the Magpies’ U21 side face Sunderland’s first-team in the Checkatrade Trophy at the Stadium of Light.

Was it wise of Dummett to post what he did on Instagram? Probably not. However, it was pretty funny.

As one fan pointed out, Sunderland fans had a field day when we went down the other year. Now the shoe is on the other foot.
