Newcastle United fans have clearly not given up hope that Jetro Willems could return to the club.
The Dutch full-back had signed up to spend the 2019/20 season on loan at St. James’ Park, but had to end his stint halfway through when he suffered a campaign-ending knee injury against Chelsea.

Willems returned to his parent club Eintracht Frankfurt to work his way back to full fitness.
The star hasn’t actually made his return to action yet, but has been on the bench a number of times for Eintracht since January 23.
Perhaps ominously, Willems’ contract with the Bundesliga side expires in the summer (via Transfermarkt), meaning he will be free to leave as a free agent.

That fact has kept the speculation about a possible return to Newcastle alive.
Today happens to be Willems’ 27th birthday, and Newcastle’s official Twitter account made sure to acknowledge it.
Plenty of Newcastle fans saw this as another opportunity to plead for his return.
Whether it happens remains to be seen.
One would imagine Newcastle would need to retain their Premier League status for Willems to want to come back, even though he is on record as having really enjoyed his previous half-season loan.
