Steve Bruce’s side ran out 3-0 winners over fellow Premier League side Norwich City in what was a morale-boosting victory just a week before West Ham United.

Dwight Gayle was at the double for the visitors at St. James’ Park, after Matt Ritchie had given Newcastle the lead.

It was another typically lively performance from Saint-Maximin.

While there were impressive showings from Gayle and Ryan Fraser, it was the 24-year-old who arguably shined brightest, as is so often the case.

There were no goals or assists for him in the end, but Saint-Maximin dazzled after replacing Joelinton at half-time.

After the game, Bruce made some reassuring comments about the star, saying (Mirror): “You can never say never but absolutely, 100%, I will say that we are keeping him.”

It’s hard to imagine how things would be without him, and the flair and unpredictability he always brings to the table.

Saint-Maximin is adored by the Toon faithful, and the love is not lost on the player.

The player has this morning taken to Twitter to acknowledge the fantastic reception he got yesterday.

He wrote: “Thanks for yesterday… As soon as I stepped on the field you guys cheered me like never before, you guys are crazy, you’re amazing!

“It’s at times like this that I realise how much you love me, it’s a privilege, thank you.”
