A harrowing 1-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday has seen Newcastle go bottom of the Premier League table, leaving fans worried and concerned.

The Toon are without a win in nine matches and with only two draws to Huddersfield’s three, they unfortunately now sit in 20th position with two points.

Many fans have been right to put Newcastle’s recent misfortune down to having one of the toughest starts to the season out of any side.

But with the tough run of fixtures over, Newcastle looked set to kick on from their unlucky performances and start picking up wins.

Fans were particularly hopeful that Newcastle would beat a Brighton side that had not won away from home in 17 matches.

But remarkably, former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton celebrated his first ever win at St James’ Park as an opposition manager.

The result has forced many supporters to seriously consider what Newcastle’s current form might mean for the future of the season.

Naturally, the loss sparked a host of opinions from positive to negative.

Relegation is becoming a real concern for a lot of fans but many are insistent that the team are still putting out good performances.

Whatever their opinion, it’s vital Newcastle pick up a win in one of their next few fixtures to ease the doubters.
