According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are interested in a summer move for Dan James.

The Welsh winger has had a breakout year at Swansea, having made his debut for the club in January 2018.

The Swans have had their issues since being relegated from the Premier League, but James has been a real bright spark.

His pace is electrifying, troubling even the best defenders around. Manchester City can attest to that, having struggled against the speedster in the FA Cup earlier in the year.

The report states that James is valued at around £10million, which is a reasonable fee for a man of his talent. At 21-years-old, James has a huge future ahead of him, and could command an even bigger fee if he performs in the Premier League.

For Newcastle, he seems like a decent option. We need to improve our wide options over the summer, especially with Kenedy set to return to Chelsea.

Signing a young player with no top flight experience is certainly a risk, but that doesn’t mean it’s a risk not worth taking. The likes of James Maddison and David Brooks have been brilliant this season after stepping up a division last summer.

As always, Toon fans have had their say on the latest target and most are excited by the possibility of signing a young player with so much potential.
