With Newcastle needing a new striker this summer, the links with Jan Carlos Hurtado are certainly welcome.
While he isn’t a household name, he has earned impressive reviews from South American football experts. The 19-year-old clearly has a lot of potential.
According to Grupa La Provinca, the Magpies are interested in the young forward, as well as Serie A side Atalanta. The report states that Newcastle are expected to launch a bid for Hurtado.
Newcastle definitely have to sign a striker this summer.
Salomon Rondon’s future is uncertain and at the minute he’s set to go back to West Brom. Rafa Benitez obviously wants him to say, but Rondon’s age is an issue for the Newcastle hierarchy.

Dwight Gayle will be back in the summer, but he could be moved on. The 28-year-old has been impressive for West Brom, scoring 23 times. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they wanted him back.
As for Joselu, it’s clear his time at the club is over. The Spaniard did score twice at the start of the season, but that was as good as it got. While he is a hard worker, he doesn’t have the ability to lead the line for a Premier League club.
So links with Hurtado are certainly welcome, but surely we can’t pin all our hopes on a teenager who has never played outside of South America?
