After the bleak reaction to the home shirt, Newcastle have put themselves in the firing line once again with a new away kit.
The dark green kit is set to get its debut tomorrow, as the Magpies travel to Lancashire to take on Preston North End. So not only may we get to see Joelinton for the first time, we’ll get to see a brand new kit in action too.
As well as a new kit, we’ve also got a new sleeve sponsor for the upcoming season. After MRF Tyres featured on the sleeve a couple of seasons ago, an additional sponsor is back, this time in the form of StormGain. The cryptocurrency platform will appear on all first-team shirts this season, not just the away one.
To advertise the kit, Newcastle wheeled out their two most expensive signings Joelinton and Miguel Almiron, as well as academy graduate Sean Longstaff.
Not that it really means anything, but hopefully Longstaff being used in the kit campaign suggests he’s definitely staying put. But then again, Chelsea used Eden Hazard to advertise theirs and now he’s at Real Madrid.
Personally, I quite like the kit. It looks smart and is far better than the home jersey. But will I be forking out £50 or £60 for it? No chance.
