Newcastle fans react as Steve Bruce looks to next season

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to some new comments from Steve Bruce this morning.

The 60-year-old has spoken ahead of the Magpies’ game with Premier League champions Manchester City tomorrow night.

There is now no threat of relegation after West Bromwich Albion and Fulham both lost their last games.

They follow Sheffield United to the Championship, meaning Newcastle are free to have a go at Pep Guardiola’s side without pressure.

Bruce spoke in his press conference about the likes of Callum Wilson and Joe Willock, but he also talked about next season.

Any Newcastle fans hoping he might walk away this summer can probably forget all about it, with Bruce reiterating his commitment to his contract.

He said: “I hope so. I’m nowhere near ready to retire yet. We’re already talking about pre-season & discussing transfer targets.”

Clearly Bruce has no intention of walking away from the project.

On social media, plenty of fans expressed their dismay.

While people can appreciate him turning things around in recent weeks, there is still firm belief that he is simply not the right man for the job long-term, and that there is a rotten lack of ambition that will see the club continue to mix it at the wrong end of the table.
