Toon fans have a lot of issues with Mike Ashley’s running of Newcastle United. And one of the problems is the way that St James’ Park and the club’s facilities have been neglected.
But it looks like things are changing at. Better late than never I suppose…
The players’ entrance has been totally renovated, with a slick paint job and new sign, as well as various little messages written on the stairs up to the entrance.
However, these messages are littered with irony. While it’s a nicely written poem of sorts, it doesn’t completely ring true. The tweet below shows the new artwork at St James’ Park:
“We are ready”. I mean that couldn’t be further from the truth. We’re the least ready we’ve ever been. There’s no manager and no new signings, with the new Premier League season drawing closer and closer.
The bottom step reads “we are united.” Are we? Are we really? The owner is detested by the fans, and he doesn’t care. They got rid of the one man holding the club together. There has been no clarity on the takeover saga that has ruined the summer. The fans are at odds with each other over how to force change. We are so far away from united.
