Newcastle United take on Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, and the Saints are looking to put their embarrassment of losing 9-0 to Manchester United quickly behind them.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were put to the sword by the Red Devils, who went goal-crazy after youngster Alex Jankewitz saw red only a couple of minutes in.
The unbelievable result comes just over a year after Southampton lost by the same scoreline to Leicester City.
That left Hasenhuttl clinging to his job and he has done a superb job since then.
But last night was another one to forget for the Austrian tactician, and he and his team will be looking to take out some hurt on Newcastle.
The Saints stand to head into the game with the Magpies with an extremely depleted squad as reported by the Chronicle, with 11 players currently unavailable – although it could be 10 if Jan Bednarek’s red card is overturned.
Following Newcastle’s defeat to Crystal Palace, it seems the pessimism has returned for a number of Magpies fans.
