The transfer window isn’t even open and the disappointment for Newcastle has already started.

But on Friday, Sky Sports News stated that Manchester United are now front of the queue and closing in on a £15million deal for the Championship ace.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, it looks like another case of a missed opportunity for Newcastle. Yet again we’ve been punished for not moving quickly.
James would’ve been a great signing for Newcastle. He’s young, talented and affordable. But it looks like his most likely destination is Old Trafford.

While there is no shame in missing out on a player to a club like Manchester United, it is still a blow.
The uncertainty surrounding Rafa Benitez’s future is starting to impact next season as well.
We aren’t going to sign anyone until we’ve got a manager sorted for next season, meaning teams can get ahead of us in the transfer window.
Fans have recognised this, and while some have to laugh at missing out on a target so quickly, others are concerned that the managerial standoff is hindering our efforts to sign players.

Typically, #NUFC will miss out on these early deals up until Rafa’s contract situation is sorted.
