Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a new claim about the state of the Magpies’ potential takeover.
Luke Edwards of the Telegraph claimed this morning that injuries to Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron have had a significant impact.
Apparently, Magpies officials have essentially now taken the club off the market amid the threat of relegation, which is very real.
Almiron and Saint-Maximin will both be out until April according to a club statement, meaning Steve Bruce is now without his three best players, Callum Wilson being the other.
The manager’s squad has become severely weakened with the loss of two more key players.
There are now only three points separating Newcastle and Fulham in the Premier League table.
Scott Parker’s men are looking much improved in recent weeks and have tightened up at the back.
The double injury blow and the form of the Cottagers is seemingly enough for officials to want to shelve takeover talks for now.
On social media, some Newcastle fans have been reacting to the claim from Edwards about the takeover talks, with many obviously frustrated:
Relegation was always a threat. This is the biggest season in Newcastles history.
Go down suffer under MA with uncertainty
Stay up get the takeover and get the worlds richest owners and challenge again and become successful

Reactive not Proactive FC
Despite the dropping mood ive peaked and troughed on whether or not the takeover could actually happen, this seems to be the coffin lowering, unless the takeover talks are over until the end of the season, then theres gonna be another X months spent

LOL if only there was some sort of hint we were in relegation trouble before now! If that was the criteria then the sale should have been paused in early autumn.

Pitiful, pathetic and sadly predictable.
Another dreadful chapter in the ongoing saga of epic management failure at a once great club.
We can only put our faith in the remaining players. Nobody else seems capable of changing things for the better. Here we go again.

Mental how it’s 2 injuries and Ashley is stalling takeover talks because he’s worried about relegation yet he’s been paying a coach to relegate us since the day he was appointed

Standard. No takeover and constant drivel from Bruce. The hope is killing us and negativity is all around. Having some light like Rafa just made things a bit better

This is an interesting one, the club are worried about relegation and harming a potential takeover yet are letting Bruce steer us towards it. Yes it’s unfortunate about injuries to key players but this form has been going on for months #NUFC https://t.co/0kfSHnxtSx

Self inflicted as per. Stick with a manager destined for relegation then it’s bound to happen https://t.co/LvtP6uUnvB
