Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a report linking Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam with a loan move to the club.

Le Buteur have claimed that the Algeria international is on the Magpies’ radar, with the player into the final 18 months of his contract at the Serie A side.

It is thought there is a good chance of Ghoulam leaving the club this January, with Mario Rui and Elseid Hysaj both providing competition at left back for Napoli.

Newcastle’s left side needs strengthening, with summer signing Jamal Lewis not really hitting the ground running yet.

Matt Ritchie can also play there but is a winger by trade, and Paul Dummett, while a decent defender, can be upgraded on.

Ghoulam, 29, has bags of experience having played in Serie A and Ligue 1 with Saint-Etienne, and also has 37 caps for his country.
