Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a claim that the FA have offered the services of St. James’ Park for Euro 2020.
It was reported last month (Chronicle) that Newcastle’s stadium had been placed on standby.
Now, according to chief football writer at the Times, Henry Winter, the FA have apparently now acted.
He wrote on Twitter: “FA offering to host moved #Euro2020 games at Wembley and St James’ Park.”
The claim comes after Athletic Bilbao’s stadium San Mames was stripped of its hosting duties by UEFA.
As reported by the Daily Mail, it’s a decision they are not too happy with having worked hard to get their venue ready.
Dublin is down as a host city, but may be unlikely to host following comments from Leo Varadkar.
A final decision is to be taken on Friday as to where all matches will be held, with Munich also needing to provide additional information regarding its suitability according to UEFA.
