Newcastle United go in search of their first victory of the season this Saturday – and a potentially very tough game lies in wait.

They were perhaps a little fortunate to take all three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break.

But their squad is packed with quality, and of course, they have just re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo.

Saturday will see a lot of the talk be about him no doubt, but Newcastle will be out to try and spoil the party.

One man who will be crucial to that happening is Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Frenchman has been speaking with NUFC TV ahead of the game.

He is aware of the Ronaldo factor, but assured supporters he personally would give his all.

The self-confident star said: “I will try to do my best for (the team).

“I’m sure the world will watch this game because of Ronaldo. But I know my quality, I know what I can do on the pitch. I know it will be a really hard game.

“I know what I can do, I think everyone will see what I can do on the pitch.”

With Callum Wilson expected to miss the clash through injury, the onus will be on Saint-Maximin to deliver.

The 24-year-old did score in this fixture last season, but Newcastle lost that game 3-1 in the end.

He will be hoping for a different outcome this time around, but it will likely not be easy.

But Toon fans have faith in Saint-Maximin.

And they have been responding to the trickster’s comments on social media.

Saint-Maximin is obviously a hugely popular figure at St. James’ Park, and these latest comments have only endeared him to the fanbase more:
