Remember when Amanda Staveley was set to be our lord and saviour?
When talk of Mike Ashley selling the club started to ramp up, Staveley was the one who looked set to take the club forward.
The saga was dragged through the media, with some publications even listing players who would be targets if she bought the club. The Daily Star even reported that a deal was done in November 2017.

In the end, talks collapsed, and talks with PCP Capital Partners were branded as ‘a waste of time’. Well more than a year on after her bid collapsed, Staveley has commented on Newcastle once again.
“We are big fans of Newcastle, big fans of the team,” the 45-year-old told the Dubai National.

“We have no issue with Mr Ashley, that [the ‘time waster’ claim] is water under the bridge. It’s still an interesting club to us, the fans are fantastic, but we are looking at a lot of clubs.”
She’s dangled the carrot in front of the fans who once longed for her to buy the club, on Valentine’s Day of all days.
The Toon Army would love Staveley to buy the club off Ashley. But we’d love anyone to buy it. Peter Kenyon was the next saviour after PCP, but his takeover mission ended in the same way.

Newcastle fans are talking about Staveley once again

Fans aren’t going to be led down the garden path this time
A mixed response from supporters.
But one thing is for sure, fans aren’t getting themselves in a tizz with the idea of Staveley buying the club again and throwing cash at it.
As always, we won’t hear anything until a deal is done. The media storm doesn’t help anyone. Fans aren’t happy with Ashley, but Staveley’s latest comments aren’t going to make her the talk of the city like they did in 2017.
