Newcastle United fans have praised Andros Townsend for comments he made on talkSPORT yesterday.
The winger appeared on White and Jordan, and talk turned to Newcastle and the club’s support.

In the eyes of some neutrals and pundits, Magpies supporters demand and expect more than what they have.
It is a ridiculous claim, with many often making a snap judgement and not looking deep enough at the tenure of Mike Ashley.
Townsend had his say yesterday, and hit the nail on the head.
He said: “I wouldn’t say they expect more than what they have. That’s the job of the fan. You want your team to do better.
“The players want the team to be better. It’s the right of the fan to expect and us players are the same. Those Newcastle players will be thinking ‘we’re better than 13th (12th), we should be aiming for 10th, 9th, 8th.
“Newcastle is a massive club. I loved my time at Newcastle. Hopefully they do get back to where they belong which I think is definitely in the top half of the Premier League.”
The club may have ended up finishing 12th last term, but right now, a top half finish seems a world away.

And it’s unlikely the team will be able to build on that given funds are supposedly tight this summer.
On social media, fans have been reacting to Towsend’s comments.
Many praised the winger for his measured and logical take:
