Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin isn’t just special on the pitch.

The 24-year-old is known for being fantastic on social media and engaging with the club’s supporters.

He is someone that just gets it, and knows that it isn’t always about the actual football.

The French maverick is today making headlines once again for his work off the pitch.

The star made a surprise virtual appearance before the pupils at Chopping Primary School to give them a well deserved treat.

The kids were being given a Financial Football lesson by the Newcastle United Foundation, when ASM appeared on screen out of the blue.

He told them that he would be leaving each of them a Nintendo Switch.

The star said (nufc.co.uk): “I hope these gifts make the children feel good – they are only young and deserve to be happy and to enjoy themselves.

“I want to make sure young people can share some happiness and have fun together after such a difficult time for everyone and I hope this helps families who might not have much.”

The gesture follows Saint-Maximin being named Professional Footballers’ Association Community Champion for 2020/21.

It also comes after he donated 60 care packages to support key workers at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, supplied gift cards for High Street shops.

As much as they love what he does on the pitch, fans have lavished praise on Saint-Maximin for generally just being a special human being:
