Newcastle United have been rocked by a double injury blow, with Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin both out of action until April.
Both players left the action early against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday night.
They join Callum Wilson in the treatment room, with the England international also expected to be out until April.
With Newcastle firmly in a relegation battle, the news is a terrible blow for Steve Bruce.
In the statement, Newcastle have just said ‘April’.
Newcastle fans would like to hope that that could mean early April, but there’s a reasonable possibility it won’t, especially with Saint-Maximin given how fragile he’s proven to be.
Bruce will now have to call on some of his fringe players to step up to the plate.
Lots of Newcastle fans have been discussing Ryan Fraser since the update.
The £42,000-a-week Scotland international (Spotrac) has not hit the ground running since his summer move, but he did get the assist for Jamaal Lascelles’ goal at the weekend.
Many feel as though it is now time for him especially to step up in a time of dire need:
Great opportunity for Ryan Fraser to show why he should be starting every week. Would be good to see Matty Longstaff and Elliot Anderson get their opportunities in the Almiron role. This is undoubtedly a blow, but it could yet leave us stronger in the long-run. #nufc https://t.co/ctFZZMKt91

Ryan Fraser for me is the guy who hasn’t had a chance this season for one reason or another, his time is now

Big few weeks for Ryan Fraser now. Would love to see Anderson given a go as well but can’t see it #nufc

Time for Ryan Fraser to earn his payslip. #NUFC

Keeping Ryan Fraser fit in the next month is absolutely key for #NUFC now. He showed what he can offer on Saturday. He now needs to deliver that on a consistent basis. In an ideal world you’d hope your £40m forward would bail you out but we’ve seen no evidence that can happen…

really need ryan fraser to step up now and show his quality, if he can replicate his 18/19 form i reckon we have a fighting chance

Ryan Fraser is the most important player for the next month. He needs to stay fit and show the creativity that he has in his cameos this season. Joelinton, Murphy, Gayle and Atsu will all have a part to play. Maybe even Jamal Lewis as a winger? #nufc
