Newcastle United fans have today been talking about the prospect of Eddie Howe coming in as the club’s new manager.

Steve Bruce remains at the helm for now, but speculation is rife about his position.

It had been expected Bruce was going to be sacked before the Tottenham Hotspur game.

He was allowed to oversee that match, and lost 3-2, meaning Newcastle are still without a win this season.

Newcastle’s new owners are clearly not rushing into a decision, and want to ensure the right appointment at a difficult time.

The Mirror reported yesterday that Howe has held talks with Newcastle.

Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth by mutual consent in 2020.

The 43-year-old did tremendous work with the Cherries, getting them promoted to the Championship and then the Premier League in 2015.

He kept them in the top flight for five years.

Howe is currently now one of the favourites for the job with some bookmakers.

Newcastle fans react

On social media, some Toon fans have been talking about the prospect of the new owners appointing Howe.

Many would be keen to see him given a chance given the great work he did at the Vitality Stadium with limited resources.
