Newcastle United are dusting themselves down after a shocking 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.
It was another rotten performance from the Magpies, who remain two points above the relegation zone with Fulham losing the night before.
It was a definite contender for worst performance of the season so far, with Brighton superior in every department, even down to attitude.
The contrast between the two gameplans on show was stark.
Where Newcastle looked to soak up pressure and defend in numbers, Brighton played some superb and expansive stuff, and got their just rewards with the three points.
Looking at the numbers for the game, one very alarming statistic has emerged.
Seagulls goalkeeper Robert Sanchez completed 47 passes in the game.
That was actually more than any of Newcastle’s players, with Jamaal Lascelles completing the highest number for the visitors with 37, according to Sofascore.
Brighton’s most prominent passer on the night was centre-back Lewis Dunk with 129/132 completed – over three times the number Lascelles managed.
On social media, Newcastle fans have caught wind of the statistic about Sanchez – a goalkeeper – completing more passes.
