Some Newcastle United fans have been demanding the return of Martin Dubravka against Brighton next weekend.

The Magpies lost once again yesterday, as Graeme Jones took his second match as interim boss against Chelsea.

It was a terrible display from the home side, who simply didn’t lay a glove on the league-leading Blues.

It was absolutely a case of trying to take a point, rather than seeking to win the game.

Jones didn’t just come in for criticism for his tactics, his starting XI also frustrated a few people.

There was no Fabian Schar again, and Ryan Fraser was deployed centrally.

Joe Willock and Miguel Almiron were left on the bench.

Someone else who didn’t make it into the starting XI was Martin Dubravka.

The Slovakia international came into the new season recovering from foot surgery, and was back on the bench yesterday for the first time.

Darlow couldn’t do anything about the two goals from Reece James, but he has been questioned for the way he fouled Kai Havertz to concede a penalty.

Some Newcastle fans want Dubravka to start against Brighton

It was a rash challenge from the 31-year-old and a stonewall penalty.

Newcastle have shipped far too many goals this season, and some supporters have now called for £38,000-a-week star Dubravka to come back into the starting XI against Brighton.
