Rejoice Newcastle fans, for today is Mike Ashley Day.
May 23rd is the anniversary of Ashley’s involvement with the Magpies, with the Sports Direct man purchasing Sir John Hall’s 41.6% stake of the club on this day in 2007.

By July he owned 100% of the club.
12 years on and that remains true, despite multiple attempts to sell the club. From Amanda Staveley to Peter Kenyon, Ashley’s attempts to sell Newcastle United have continuously failed.
During his tenure as owner, the Magpies have been relegated twice. We haven’t got close to a trophy that isn’t the second tier league title.
We’ve seen multiple managers come and go. Some walked out, others were sacked. One headbutted David Meyler on the touchline and still managed to keep his job.

Yes, we’ve seen it all during Ashley’s ownership of the club… everything except ambition from the owner.
The soap opera that is Newcastle United has been at it’s infuriating best while Ashley has been at the wheel, with comical decision after comical decision.
And on Mike Ashley Day, fans have taken to Twitter to relive some of the ‘best’ moments from the past 12 years.
If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry…
