In a surprising twist, Chelsea might actually need Kenedy next season.

Subject to an appeal, the Blues will undergo a transfer ban, meaning they can’t sign players in the next two transfer windows.

While that means no more big names will arrive at Stamford Bridge for a while, it could also impact their loan players.

Chelsea may be less willing to send players out on loan or agree permanent moves for those who are already out on loan, which is where Kenedy comes into it.

According to the Chronicle, Rafa Benitez would consider a permanent move for Kenedy if the price was right, but that decision might now be taken out of his hands.

Chelsea’s transfer ban means they’ll have to call upon players who are already at the club, which could give the 23-year-old another chance.

Considering his lack of form though, Newcastle fans aren’t worried at all.

Newcastle fans react to Chelsea’s transfer ban and Kenedy implications

Had this happened 12 months ago, the response would have been very different.

Kenedy was a revelation when he first arrived on loan, but that player has seemingly disappeared. Most fans aren’t going to be too upset if this season is the last we see of him.
