Newcastle have had a productive summer transfer window, where both the first-team and the depth of the squad have been strengthened, and there have been some impressive deals.
Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes have all joined for a substantial outlay following Newcastle’s return to the Champions League, and whilst some were targeted signings, some of these deals saw the club pounce smartly on market opportunities.
Hall in particular, became a deal too good to ignore for Newcastle. The 18-year-old became available following Chelsea’s heavy spending spree this summer, and the club have managed to land the defender on loan with an obligation to buy.
A report from The Telegraph has now revealed that Newcastle are ecstatic about the way they managed to pull off the deal so quickly, with Chelsea selling a number of players to rivals this summer.
“Arsenal, City and Newcastle were said to be delighted by the speed and ease at which the Havertz, Kovacic and Hall deals were agreed which may not necessarily be what Chelsea want to hear,” the report claimed.
A long-term acquisition
Although still inexperienced, Hall is a player who has the potential to become a key player for Newcastle for a very long time.
Frank Lampard described him as “quality” during his breakthrough at Chelsea last season, and his talent is obvious to see.
A left-back who is also capable of playing in midfield, Hall is capable of making a big impact this season, and if Sven Botman is unavailable for tomorrow’s match against Brighton, he could be thrown in for his first start for the club.
Newcastle pounced as it became clear that he was set to leave Chelsea, in a surprise move considering that he had signed a long-term deal earlier this summer, and it highlights the excellent work done by Dan Ashworth this summer at finding value in the transfer market.
