Florian Lejeune’s season started with injury and sadly that is also how it is ending.

After an incredible comeback from a knee injury suffered in pre-season, the French defender has been ruled out once again.

His season came to an end the other week against Crystal Palace, going off on a stretcher after a challenge with Andros Townsend. He immediately knew something was wrong, and in that moment his season was over.

But having had surgery, Lejeune is already showing incredible signs of progress.

Lejeune sends a positive update on Instagram

On his official Instagram account, the 27-year-old added a video of himself to his story.

Lejeune can be seen walking without assistance as he begins his rehabilitation. This is just six days after he went under the knife.

Lejeune walks after surgery

While he looks more ready for a game of tennis rather than football, it is amazing to see Lejeune walking so soon after his operation.

His recovery earlier in the season was already impressive. There was speculation that he would miss the entire season, but he was back in the starting XI by January.

It was heartbreaking to see him suffer another setback. Lejeune had done so well since returning to the team, re-finding his form from the previous season.

We’ve already seen his incredible powers of recovery once since he moved to Newcastle, and it already looks like he isn’t going to be fazed by another injury blow.

We won’t see him before the season ends, but hopefully he’ll be a key player once again during the next campaign.
