Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the news that Fabian Schar is set to miss ‘several months’ with a knee injury.
The Switzerland international was stretchered off in the second-half of yesterday’s Premier League clash with Southampton, which the Magpies won 3-2.

Schar has torn ligaments following a 50-50 challenge with Jan Bednarek, and will now ‘undergo further assessment with a specialist consultant in the coming days before beginning his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team’, according to a statement from Newcastle’s official website.
Reacting on social media, the player said: “Difficult to accept. I felt really good on the pitch and the team did well the last few games.
“Now I will be out for a few months and it’s gonna be a hard time. ButI will try everything to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. And my goal will be to be ready for the Euros.”
The update on Schar is a huge blow for Steve Bruce, with Federico Fernandez and Jamaal Lascelles both currently on the sidelines.
One wonders if the development will now have ramifications for the player’s long-term prospects at St. James’ Park.
As things currently stand, Schar is out of contract in the summer and would leave the club for free.

Schar’s recent form had been good, and Bruce will now seek to fill the void as best he can.
On social media, some Newcastle fans have expressed their dismay over the news about Schar:
