Amanda Staveley has released a fresh statement as Newcastle United celebrate International Women’s Day.

The Toon co-owner has toasted the work done by the club, as the new owners look to take Newcastle to new heights.

Staveley heralds the people currently working for the Magpies, regardless of whether they are men or women.

“I’m a proud custodian of Newcastle United,” she wrote.

“Our team – on and off the pitch – give us their all. We’re a family. The opportunities we have at the club are fantastically diverse and we work collaboratively across all departments to achieve the success we are striving for.

“Sport is a wonderful industry to work in and we are committed to welcoming the best talent to our team, regardless of gender.”

Amanda Staveley has had another busy week with Newcastle

Staveley has been in the headlines a lot over the past week, as the new face of the club continues to do the media rounds.

At the start of last week, everyone was talking about the interview Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi did with the Athletic. It was incredibly in depth, and detailed their start to life at Newcastle. It also gave a glimpse into the future.

But Staveley wasn’t finished there. On Thursday she spoke at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit, and certainly made a lot of headlines.

She stated that the consortium looked at buying Chelsea before they completed the deal for Newcastle, amid speculation that the Blues will be sold by Roman Abramovich.

It was Staveley’s comments on Abramovich that garnered the biggest response, and the Newcastle official received a big backlash to what she said about the Russian’s Chelsea stance.

But despite the renewed public scrutiny, Staveley continued her public appearances.

On Saturday she watched Eddie Howe’s side make it eight games unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Brighton. It was further evidence of the positive impact the new owners have had at St James’ Park.

And on Sunday Staveley saw the Newcastle Women’s side beat Leeds 6-2 at Coach Lane. Staveley and Ghodoussi have taken a keen interest in the women’s team, which is massively encouraging as they look to improve the entire Newcastle United – not just the men’s senior side.

The work Staveley and co have done so far at Newcastle has been exceptional. The club has changed so much over the past six months.

As women across the globe celebrate International Women’s Day, Staveley should be incredibly proud of her achievements so far.
