Newcastle United are taking on Arsenal this weekend – and it’s a chance for Eddie Howe to get a glance at Alexandre Lacazette.
The Magpies will once again go in search of their first victory of the season.
The club, currently bottom of the Premier League table, need to start getting points on the board quickly.
Eddie Howe is in place as manager now, but he has been isolating following a positive test for Covid-19.
He has not been present for training this week and will not take tomorrow’s press conference.
There are doubts he will be in the dugout at the Emirates Stadium.
The preparation has therefore not been ideal for Newcastle, so winning the game against the Gunners will be a big achievement if it happens.
One man Newcastle will need to be wary of is Lacazette, who has scored three goals against the club since coming to English football.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires next summer, and there is potential for him to leave in January. Arsenal surely won’t want him leaving as a free agent.
Newcastle to get glimpse of Lacazette on Saturday
There is a good chance Lacazette will feature from the start on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta has started him in each of the last four league games.
Newcastle need defenders in January, but another striker wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Lacazette, on the face of it, would be a decent addition.
Perhaps a strong performance from the £46.5 million man on Saturday will convince Newcastle to make an approach. Hopefully, he doesn’t play too well though.
