Newcastle are failing on all fronts in the transfer window

There isn’t much Newcastle have got right this summer. And when it comes to the transfer window, it’s been an absolute shambles.

As it stands, we’ve signed one first-team player and two kids. This isn’t going to be enough for the new Premier League season.

Joelinton might prove to be a great addition, but he can’t do it all on his own.

From the squad we had last season, we’ve lost Salomon Rondon, Ayoze Perez, Joselu, Mo Diame, Kenedy and Antonio Barreca. As it stands, they’ve been replaced by Joelinton, Dwight Gayle, Rolando Aarons, Jack Colback, Jacob Murphy and Achraf Lazaar. That is truly a shocking state of affairs.

Other than Joelinton, those players shouldn’t even be at the club anymore. The big talk at the start of the window was that money would need to be raised from player sales. The main issue there is that we’ve barely sold anyone.

The amount of deadwood in the squad is shocking. We’re closing in on the new season and as things stand the likes of Colback and Lazaar will have a role to play purely because of circumstance. If we suffer a few injuries, those two could be starters for Steve Bruce.

We can’t get players out and we can’t get players in. We just seem to be a stuck with a below average squad, who are now managed by a below average manager rather than the world class Rafa Benitez.

Unless things change in the next week, the writing is on the wall.
