Mehrdad Ghodoussi, husband of PCP Capital Partners’ Amanda Staveley, has joined Jamie Reuben in commenting on an interesting development in the proposed takeover of Newcastle.

Yesterday, Reuben responded to a story from The Shields Gazette which revealed that supporters Gordon Stein and Keith Patterson, of Newcastle Consortium Supporters Limited, issued a ‘Letter Before Action’ to the Premier League.

They believe that the Premier League are acting against the United Kingdom’s anti-competition law by blocking a £340 million bid from PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley.

According to The Chronicle, Ashley himself has even given the fan consortium his backing in their legal challenge against the Premier League.

Now, Staveley – who owns PCP Capital Partners – has somewhat got involved in the story after her husband wrote ‘Toon Army!!!’ in response to The Shields Gazette’s report.

For Reuben, and now Ghodoussi, to actively respond to such a story is extremely interesting.

The pair of stakeholders are clearly keeping a very close eye on proceedings involving the Magpies, and it feels as if nobody involved in the proposed takeover is intending to give up their pursuit of the Premier League club.
