There could be more good news on the way for Newcastle United.

The Magpies are on top of the world after what happened at Wembley on March 16th. Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup, picking up their first piece of domestic silverware since 1955.

Alan Shearer thinks Eddie Howe should get a statue, while his players and staff are preparing to celebrate winning the cup with supporters on March 29th.

After that, attention will turn back to the actual football. Newcastle United have 10 Premier League games remaining, and are in control of their own destiny as they aim to qualify for the Champions League.

While it will not be easy, Eddie Howe could soon be boosted by the return of Sven Botman.

Injury update on Sven Botman

The 25-year-old has missed the Magpies’ previous seven games, with Botman undergoing knee surgery after sustaining a fresh injury.

At the time of the injury, Howe stated Botman would be out for eight weeks.

However, that might change. According to the i Paper, Botman could return from this injury earlier than expected.

They add that he is making ‘good progress’ after his operation.

Newcastle United’s other injury concerns

While Newcastle will obviously take a cautious approach to Botman’s comeback, it is encouraging to hear that he could be available sooner than expected.

It initially looked like Botman, who cost Newcastle £32million in 2022, would not be back until May for the final four games of the season. However, there is now a chance of an earlier comeback.

However, Botman is not the only Newcastle United player who is currently unavailable through injury.

Lewis Hall is out for the season after undergoing surgery. Unfortunately, he was not at Wembley at all for the Carabao Cup final.

One injured player who was there was Jamaal Lascelles. He lifted the trophy alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier, with Lascelles in the final stage of his recovery after suffering an ACL injury a year ago.

Finally, Anthony Gordon picked up an injury during England’s 2-0 win over Albania. Fortunately, Gordon’s injury is not serious. His next Newcastle United appearance will likely be away to Leicester City on April 7th, with the 24-year-old suspended for the Brentford game on April 2nd.
