Miguel Almiron shares fitness update after recent Newcastle injury

Miguel Almiron recently missed four games due to injury, but the Newcastle United attacker now believes he has fully recovered.

Newcastle were without Almiron for the wins over Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, West Ham United and Brentford, but he made his return in the defeat to Aston Villa.

The 29-year-old has only started once since his recovery. That was the 4-1 win over Everton, with Eddie Howe rotating his side due to the busy schedule.

Other than that, Almiron has been on the bench while Jacob Murphy takes his place. It was initially an enforced decision, but the boyhood Toon fan has been playing brilliantly as of late.

His upturn in form came at the perfect time, as Almiron recovered from injury. But the Paraguayan is back now, and has spoke to the media about his return to fitness.

Miguel Almiron says he is now fully fit

Almiron has spoke to Paraguayan outlet La Nacion, and was asked about his recent thigh injury.

“Thank God I am now recovered from a minor injury,” he said.

“But I had to be very careful, little by little I am picking up the rhythm of the matches. Last time I played as a starter again and I feel better game by game.”

Newcastle now have plenty of options in attack

Almiron has admitted that he was being careful after his initial recovery, but is now starting to feel better and better with each passing game. He is starting to get his rhythm back ahead of the final few games of the season.

That is a huge boost for Newcastle, as Miggy has been one of our players of the season. His goals have played a massive part in us challenging for a place in the Champions League.

It has been his best ever season in a Toon shirt, netting 11 Premier League goals. He was Newcastle’s top scorer until recently, with Callum Wilson now overtaking him.

But Almiron’s return to full fitness is excellent news for Howe, who now has even more depth to choose from. He has multiple attacking options, meaning he can change games with his substituations.

Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak are thriving, Murphy has been on a great run, Anthony Gordon is showing signs of promise, and now Almiron is fully fit.

Throw Allan Saint-Maximin into that group, and Newcastle have some very dangerous attacking options. The Frenchman is expected to return this weekend against Arsenal, telling fans that he is ‘back’ on his official Instagram account.
