Miguel Almiron provides reassuring injury update

Newcastle United playmaker Miguel Almiron has allayed fears about the severity of the injury he picked up playing for Paraguay.

Almiron was in clear distress as he left the action, leading to fears he had done something serious.

There had been some worry that his fitness for the new season was under threat.

But Almiron has told ABC Cardinal he only suffered a minor injury.

He has been in contact with Newcastle physios, and will return to the club in three weeks.

It is a good opportunity now for Almiron to get some much needed rest.

He has played a lot of football in recent times.

Last term, he featured 39 times for the Magpies, playing 2979 minutes.

He also made nine appearances for his country across various competitions, including the current Copa America.

Almiron news a boost

Thankfully the issue with Almiron doesn’t seem serious.

It’s good that he’ll have some time to recuperate now – last term was certainly a long one for him.

A fresh Almiron will be very important for Newcastle ahead of the 2021/2022 season.

It’s likely it won’t be a particularly inspiring transfer window, and so as one of the most influential players, Almiron’s condition will be paramount.
