Miguel Almiron certainly has an argument to be considered the host high profile Paraguayan footballer in Premier League history.
Roque Santa Cruz, of course, would likely argue on that front but Almiron remains one of Newcastle’s key players, while the aforementioned forward struggled to convince when making the step up to Manchester City.
With no right-winger signed during the summer window, Almiron looks set to keep his starting role for at least another season too.

Brighton’s Julio Enciso is another compatriot plying his trade in the English top flight and perhaps could one day overtake Almiron’s standing as Paraguay’s leading light should he continue impressing on the south coast.
Now, there is also another name to consider.
Miguel Almiron pleased to see Wolves sign Enso Gonzales
Indeed, Wolves moved late in the window to sign 19-year-old Paraguayan winger Enso Gonzales from Libertad, a player Almiron is pleased to see in the Premier League.
Speaking to La Nacion, Almiron said: “Enso is something very nice for Paraguayan soccer, that players go to the Premier, such a competitive league, where there are very good players.
“I think that’s good for all of us. That they have that opportunity abroad is important for Paraguayan football.”

Almiron can further cement his legacy as Paraguay’s leading light
If Almiron can recover from a difficult start to this season and manage to scale the heights of last time out, he will be further cemented as Paraguay’s most successful export to the Premier League.
To help lead Newcastle’s line at a very high level for two seasons on the bounce would be some achievement for a player who’s end product was so often questioned only a short time ago.
Almiron was one of the stars of last season but questions remain as to whether or not he can repeat that.
If he can, it would be a proud moment for Paraguayan football.
