Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron has heaped praise on Bruno Guimaraes after a brilliant performance last week.

The Brazilian was brought in to start his first game at St. James’ Park against Wolves.

And the South American produced a display packed with quality.

Supporters had been calling for Bruno to start, after he was on the bench for the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Eddie Howe decided against starting him down in north London, sending him on in the second-half as Spurs started to run away with the game.

He put in an impressive cameo considering the circumstances, and was in the starting XI against Wolves, with Joe Willock picking up an injury in training.

Bruno is already a hugely popular figure at St. James’ Park, and Almiron has been singing his praises after last week.

He told NUFC TV: “As players, we already knew what Bruno could bring to the side and I think the fans and everyone can see that when he’s out on the pitch. It’s not even up for discussion. Bruno is a top, top player.”

Almiron went on to say that the game becomes ‘much easier’ when Bruno is playing.”

Bruno clearly already has a lot of respect in the Newcastle dressing room

Almiron is only the latest to heap praise on Bruno and the qualities he brings. And he won’t be the last.

The Magpies have really struck gold landing the Brazilian, and it’s exciting to think how good he could eventually become as he gets to grips with English football.

He’s also still a few years away from his peak. So the fact he is looking this accomplished now is massively exciting.

Quite possibly in years to come, fans may well talk about Bruno as being the player that really kickstarted the new era.
