Michail Antonio has just changed his mind about where Newcastle will finish this season

The Footballer’s Football Podcast with Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio is back for the new season and the West Ham striker has had his say on where he thinks Newcastle United will finish this season.

It has become really clear that not many pundits are backing Newcastle to repeat last season’s heroics and retain a Champions League place this season.

So many publications, websites and TV pundits have made their predictions for who will finish in the top four this season and so few have had Newcastle on their lists.

Antonio doesn’t think Newcastle will qualify for Champions League again

We can now add Michail Antonio to that list after he made his prediction for Newcastle United’s final league position in the presence of Newcastle striker Callum Wilson on the Footballer’s Football Podcast.

Antonio doesn’t see the Magpies hitting the top four, but he did climb down a bit from his previous prediction as the pair thrashed it out.

Antonio: “I think you will be pushing for Europe. Definitely not Champions League.”

Wilson: “So you think last year was a fluke?”

Antonio: “I’m saying that it’s going to be more natural again. I think Arsenal win the league, then Man City, Liverpool…”

Wilson: “Newcastle?”

Antonio: “No! You’re finishing sixth, you’re going to miss out of Champions League. Actually… you know what, I’m going to give you fifth place, as I’m not sure about Chelsea. Actually you know what, as much as I don’t want to, I’m going to give you lot fifth place this year!”

Newcastle are being underestimated again this season and that’s great

Michail Antonio tries to be funny saying that Newcastle will not qualify for Champions League at the end of the season and will finish fifth.

Well, the joke’s on Antonio as fifth place will more than likely get Champions League football this season with the changes being made to the competition.

It’s actually quite nice that so many pundits are underestimating Newcastle this season, it takes the pressure off us again so we can just go about our business and do what we do best.
