Mehrdad Ghodoussi sends message to Newcastle supporters after win against Aston Villa

Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi was blown away by the victory over Aston Villa and had a message for the travelling supporters.

It took them over a decade but Newcastle finally registered their first victory at Villa Park since 2013 and just their second away win in the Premier League of the season.

This is brilliant news for the owners who will have had just a slight concern at the team’s recent results, but they’re certainly back in the mix now and Ghodoussi posted on X to show just how amazed he was.

Ghodoussi grateful for ‘incredible’ Newcastle support

For a team who had lost their last four league games coming into this fixture Newcastle were backed with a full away end who just would not stop cheering their team all night from the first minute.

There’s been a bit of a grey cloud hanging over the club in the last two months because of exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup, a number of key injuries and then the news that there’s no money to spend in January.

But if you had visited Villa Park last night you’d be forgiven for thinking that Newcastle were on a title charge or at the very least on a brilliant run which would have explained why the fans were in such great spirits.

It was very similar to the away end at Fulham which Ghodoussi’s wife Amanda Staveley had also pointed was a pretty impressive atmosphere, especially with Alan Shearer right in the middle of it.

On X, Ghodoussi said: “That was one hell of a game. The lads worked their socks off. I think that’s our first win at Villa Park since 2013 and the first time Villa has lost at home since Feb 23. And let’s not forget the incredible support tonight.”

With their injury list seemingly never ending now that Alexander Isak has again been force off during a game, Newcastle need all the help they can get to swing results in their favour.

The team are looking to push back into the European places as well as fight for an FA Cup and they have a special weapon they can use that few other teams possess.

Newcastle’s support is one of the best in the country and it’s a huge factor in why their home form has been so good this season, it’s been the away games that have let them down.

There’s only a few teams you could argue boast that kind of support and it’s going to be absolutely crucial to push these players on in the second half of the season.
