Newcastle United face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League today.

It is the first matchday since the takeover came to fruition, and the atmosphere at St. James’ Park is set to be electric.

Steve Bruce will be taking today’s game, which comes as a surprise to many.

It had been expected the new owners would have sacked the 60-year-old by now.

But it seems they are allowing him to take charge of his 1000th game as manager, as they continue their search for a new head coach.

The Sun report that His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan will be in attendance for today’s game.

He is the governor of the Public Investment Fund, which acquired 80% of the club in the takeover, and Newcastle’s new chairman.

He, apparently, will not be a regular visitor to St. James’.

It is likely Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi will also be in attendance today.

And Ghodoussi has already sent a message to supporters this morning on Twitter.

He said: “So excited and hopefully 3pts. But remember, today is bigger than that, today is about a new beginning, a new hope and a brighter future. Let’s enjoy it and celebrate a UNITED NEWCASTLE.”

Ghodoussi message is spot on

Hopefully, Newcastle can get the three points today.

But as Ghodoussi says, today is bigger than winning this game.

It is the dawn of a new era, and changes are undoubtedly in the offing.

Bruce will not be in the hotseat for much longer, and Toon fans can’t lose sight of this in case of a defeat and/or poor performance.
