Newcastle United co-owners Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley took their photo with club legend David Ginola. Ghodoussi posted the photo on Twitter the day after the 5-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Ginola played for both Newcastle and Tottenham in his career and is adored by both clubs. The Frenchman was part of Kevin Keegan’s famous ‘Entertainers’ side that came close to winning the Premier League in the 1990s, while at Spurs he picked up a PFA Player of the Year in 1999.
The image can provide some Magpies fans with a little less gloom. In many ways, it represents Newcastle’s legacy and the exciting future ahead of them.
Hopefully, the owners can bring about similar success to when Ginola was there, maybe even more
Ghodoussi and Staveley’s PIF completed the sale of Newcastle back in early October. It brought about joy across Tyneside, mainly due to the fact that previous owner Mike Ashley was now no longer the owner.
Additionally, their wealth makes them the richest club in the world. Broadening the horizon of which players they can look to bring in. Hopefully those closer to the star power and quality of Ginola.
The biggest name by far was Kieran Trippier who was the club’s first signing. A massive statement made by the PIF bringing in an England international and former Champions League finalist.

Even now, Newcastle has its own exciting and lovable French winger in Allan Saint-Maximin. Like Ginola he excites the fans with his flair and moments of magic.
However, he’s currently in a bit of a rough patch at the moment. But we know what he is capable of and some fans will be hoping that he will be able to bounce back.
It’s still early days, but there’s a lot more hope around the club since PIF took over. Newcastle have been able to climb out of the relegation zone and look close to safety. A potentially exciting summer could be in store on Tyneside.
