According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United will now let Matty Longstaff leave the club on loan.
The midfielder didn’t even make the bench on Sunday, as the Magpies started the season with a 4-2 defeat to West Ham. That’s despite the fact Joe Willock wasn’t available, and Newcastle could name nine substitutes.
Now it seems as though the club have made up their mind – the youngest Longstaff is free to leave temporarily.

The Chronicle claim that there has previously been interest from Scotland, but the 21-year-old is now hoping to move to a Championship club.
They report that Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United are keen.
Matty Longstaff desperately needs loan move
It is essential this summer that Longstaff secures a loan move away from St James’ Park. He desperately needs more first-team experience.
Since he emerged onto the scene at Newcastle with that stunning debut against Manchester Untied, his progress has completely stalled.
Opportunities have been very limited, particularly last season despite signing a new deal in the summer of 2020.

That contract expires next year, which means there is a risk in letting him leave on loan. Newcastle really need to agree a new deal with Longstaff before allowing him to leave.
But if we overcome that hurdle, Longstaff appears to have some great options in the Championship.
Sheffield United will surely be contenders for promotion, and sound like Longstaff’s best option from the three clubs who are reportedly keen.
