Matty Longstaff has been described as ‘a genuine role model’, after becoming the Newcastle United Foundation’s newest ambassador.
The talented 20-year-old is committed to enriching his hometown area through the Foundation’s work with James Geddes, who is a nextdoor neighbour of the Longstaff family in North Shields who suffered with Leukemia as a teenager.

Matty joins brother Sean as an ambassador in ‘promoting the work of the charity and its aims of motivating and mentoring individuals to achieve their potential’, according to a club statement.
The midfielder wants to encourage kinds, young people and families to access the support of the Foundation and the variety of programmes it runs.
Matty is delighted to be a part of the NUF stating he is ‘very proud’ to be involved with their work.

He’s come in for a great word from the Head of the Foundation Steve Beharall, who said: “We’re delighted to have Matty’s support and look forward to working more closely with him to reach more people and communities across our region.
“Matty is a genuine role model for so many people we work who can be inspired by his journey as a young lad from North Shields to living his dream at his boyhood club.
